Virtual queue at Universal

Hi,

Does Universal do virtual queues still? I can’t see it in the app but I haven’t got my tickets yet so not sure if that’s blocking it.

Thanks

Universal Orlando previously used virtual queues for certain popular rides, like Hagrid's Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure and VelociCoaster, allowing guests to reserve a boarding time instead of waiting in the traditional line. However, the availability of virtual queues has changed over the last couple of years.

As of now, Universal Orlando does not run virtual queues for most rides on a daily basis. Instead, they have shifted to using their Universal Express Pass system and regular standby lines. Virtual queues are only occasionally used for very high-demand attractions, often with special events or new ride openings.

Regarding the app:

  • You generally need to have valid park tickets linked in the Universal Orlando app to see available ride options, including any virtual queue or Express Pass access.
  • If you don’t see a virtual queue option in the app, it likely means that no virtual queue is active for that date or attraction.
  • Once your tickets are purchased and added to the app, you can check the app for real-time updates on ride availability, Express Pass options, and any temporary virtual queue implementations.

Summary: While Universal used to rely heavily on virtual queues, they are now mostly replaced by Express Pass and standby lines. Virtual queues, if offered, will only appear in the app once tickets are linked, and not all rides have them anymore.
