Itineary for Hong Kong visit in May mid
Hi Fellow Travellers, Lookinf for an advice.
We are planning a trip to hong-kong in last week of may with family and kids.
Need experts inputs on below points:
1. Is 4 night & 5 days enough (early morning arrival and late night departure)
2. Out of these places central or TST or Causeway Bay, which one is better. Preferred to stay at lively location with scenic view if possible (not mandatory) but hotel must be family & kid friendly. Any suggestions for brand hotels under $140~$150 . Looking for the place where we can vegetarian options in locality.
3. How to book multiple attractions with good discounts.
4. How to commute within Hong-kong with family?
5. Must visit places. Can skip not required places like museum etc. Motto is that Our kids should enjoy.
Thanks in Advance
Four nights and five days in Hong Kong is generally enough for a family trip, especially if your focus is on kid-friendly activities and iconic sights. Since you’re arriving early and departing late, you will have almost full days to explore.
For hotel location, Central, Tsim Sha Tsui (TST), and Causeway Bay all have their advantages:
- Central: Good for business and shopping areas, close to Victoria Peak, mid-range hotels are available but may be pricier. Scenic harbor views possible from some hotels.
- Tsim Sha Tsui (TST): Lively waterfront area with easy access to Star Ferry, shopping, and the promenade. Excellent harbor views. Family-friendly hotels available in your budget range.
- Causeway Bay: Very vibrant with shopping and dining options. Slightly less scenic views but plenty of vegetarian restaurants and kid-friendly stores.
For hotel suggestions under $140–150 per night that are family and kid friendly:
- Royal Plaza Hotel (Mong Kok) – Family rooms, kid-friendly amenities, close to shopping and vegetarian food.
- Hotel ICON (TST) – Modern, with family rooms, near harbor, vegetarian-friendly restaurants nearby.
- Auberge Discovery Bay (Disneyland area) – Great if you want to split the stay for Disneyland convenience.
Booking multiple attractions with discounts:
- Check official websites for Hong Kong Disneyland, Ocean Park, Ngong Ping 360 for combo tickets or online pre-purchase discounts.
- Consider tourist passes like “iVenture Card” for multiple attractions at a reduced price.
- Booking online in advance is recommended to avoid long queues.
Commute within Hong Kong with family:
- MTR (subway) – Fast, convenient, clean, and easy for families. Most major attractions are connected.
- Trams on Hong Kong Island – Fun for kids and scenic along certain routes.
- Star Ferry – Great for short trips between TST and Central; very kid-friendly.
- Taxis – Useful for late night travel or trips with young children, but more expensive than MTR.
Must-visit places for kids:
- Hong Kong Disneyland – Full day recommended.
- Ocean Park – Marine life, rides, and cable car.
- Ngong Ping 360 and Tian Tan Buddha – Cable car ride is fun for kids.
- Victoria Peak – Peak Tram for scenic views.
- Kowloon Waterfront and Avenue of Stars – Short walks with harbor views.
With this plan, you can skip museums or other less interactive attractions, focusing on fun and scenic experiences suitable for children.
