Grand Californian DCA entrance refurb.

I heard today on the Disneyland 4-Ever Podcast that the Grand Californian entrance to Disney California Adventure Park has closed to install the new ticket scanners. It's a refurbishment that may take awhile as it might be expanded a bit.

I don't know if there will be a way to exit the park into the hotel. If I find information on that I'll post.

The Grand Californian Hotel entrance to Disney California Adventure (DCA) has indeed been undergoing refurbishment to install new ticket scanners and potentially expand the entrance area. This update is part of Disney’s ongoing efforts to modernize guest entry and improve crowd flow between the hotel and park. During this refurbishment, the usual direct entrance from the hotel into DCA is closed, so guests will need to use alternative routes.

Here’s what you should know and consider when planning your visit during this refurbishment:

  • The main hotel entrance into DCA is temporarily closed. Guests staying at the Grand Californian may need to enter the park through the regular DCA entrance located at the esplanade near Disneyland Park.
  • Exiting the park into the hotel may also be affected. Depending on the stage of construction, Disney may provide temporary pathways or signs directing hotel guests to accessible exits.
  • The refurbishment schedule is not always precisely announced, so the closure could last several weeks or months. Checking the official Disneyland website or app for updates before your visit is recommended.
  • During peak times, expect slightly longer walk times from the hotel to park entry and plan for extra time to navigate any temporary entrances or queues.

Alternative considerations and tips:

  • If you are staying at the Grand Californian, arrive at the park early to allow extra time to navigate the modified entrance.
  • Check with the hotel front desk upon arrival—they often have the latest information about temporary walkways, shuttle options, or any guest access accommodations.
  • For guests with mobility needs, ask for guidance on the most accessible routes into DCA during the refurbishment period.
  • Consider planning your DCA park day around lower crowd times, as entry bottlenecks may be more noticeable during peak hours.

Overall, while the refurbishment may slightly alter the convenience of entering DCA from the Grand Californian, Disney typically provides clear signage and guidance for hotel guests. Keeping up with the latest updates from official Disney sources will ensure a smooth experience during your stay.
