Short SF stop this weekend

We are in SF staying at the Beacon Grand on Union Squqre for a quick 2 night stop. It's tulip festival and things are bustling. Currently at the Ferry Building and it seems like crowds are back to pre pandemic levels.

For a quick two-night stop in San Francisco, staying at the Beacon Grand on Union Square puts you in the heart of the city with easy access to many iconic sights, shopping, and dining options. Given that it’s the tulip festival and crowds are bustling, planning a mix of sightseeing and short excursions will help you make the most of your limited time.

Since you’re already at the Ferry Building, you can explore the nearby Embarcadero area and enjoy local treats. The waterfront is lively and offers great views of the Bay Bridge, especially around sunset.

Other convenient activities and attractions for a short stay include:

  • Union Square: Enjoy shopping, public art, and people-watching without straying far from your hotel.
  • Chinatown: Just a short walk away, explore the streets, markets, and authentic eateries.
  • Cable car ride: Take a classic ride up to Nob Hill or down to Fisherman’s Wharf. It’s an easy way to see the city without too much walking.
  • Coit Tower: Offers panoramic views of the city and bay, and the walk up is manageable if you prefer short walks.
  • Exploratorium or nearby piers: Great for a mix of indoor and outdoor experiences, especially if the weather is changeable.

If you have a few hours free, consider a short ferry ride to Sausalito for scenic views and a relaxing stroll, or visit the nearby Embarcadero Farmers Market if it coincides with your visit. With only two nights, it’s best to prioritize a few key highlights rather than trying to see everything.

Dining options in and near Union Square are plentiful:

  • Quick bites and casual cafes for lunch or snacks while exploring.
  • Iconic restaurants and rooftop bars for dinner with views of the city.
  • Specialty dessert shops or coffee spots for short breaks between sightseeing.

Given the pre-pandemic crowd levels, plan your visits early in the day for popular attractions, and consider using rideshares or public transit for longer trips to save time and energy.
