Single Asian lady go to US sightseeing

I plan to visit US. Travel alone but I have friends in US as I studied before.

Have valid visa, return tickets, hotel booking and address of my friend whom I will stay with.

Yes I travelled to US before and no problem. But have not been there many years. See some problems online so a little worried.

BTW, I have job in Hong Kong.

So, any thing I shall be aware of when arrive at SFO.

Thanks. And a happy weekend.

Traveling alone to the US as a single visitor is generally safe, especially if you have a valid visa, return tickets, and accommodation information. Since you have visited the US before and have friends to stay with, your entry process at SFO should be straightforward, but there are a few points to keep in mind to make your arrival smooth and stress-free.

At San Francisco International Airport (SFO):

  • Ensure you have all your documents ready: passport with valid visa, return tickets, hotel booking or friend’s address, and any proof of employment in Hong Kong if asked.
  • Be prepared for standard US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) questioning. Officers may ask about your purpose of visit, length of stay, and where you will be staying. Answer clearly and calmly.
  • Declare any items you are bringing into the US as required. Avoid bringing prohibited items, including certain food products.

General Travel Safety Tips:

  • Keep your personal belongings secure, especially in crowded areas like airports, public transport, and tourist spots.
  • Use reputable transportation options from SFO: official airport shuttles, licensed taxis, ride-sharing apps, or pre-booked private transfers.
  • Share your itinerary with a friend or family member and keep your phone charged and accessible.

While Sightseeing in the US:

  • Plan your sightseeing routes and know public transport options if you are not renting a car.
  • Stick to well-lit and populated areas, especially when walking alone.
  • Have your hotel or friend’s contact information handy in case you need assistance.
  • Be aware of local laws and customs in each city or state you visit.

Additional Tips:

  • Download maps or transportation apps for offline use.
  • Carry a copy of important documents, including passport and visa, separate from the originals.
  • Consider travel insurance that covers health, theft, or trip interruptions.

Overall, with preparation and awareness, arriving at SFO and traveling alone in the US should be safe and manageable. Many travelers do this successfully every year.
