Los Feliz restaurants without a reservation.

Hi

How likely are we to get a table for 2 in Los Feliz at 7.30pm / 8.00pm on a Sunday or Monday night without a reservation? We like the look of Alcove but I can't see that they take online reservations. Our second choice would probably be Home who do take reservations.

Thanks

Los Feliz is a popular dining area, and weekend evenings, even on a Sunday, can be busy. Alcove is a trendy spot with a lively patio, and it does not take online reservations, which means walk-ins are first-come, first-served. On a Sunday or Monday night at 7:30–8:00 PM, your chances of getting a table without a reservation are moderate, depending on the season and whether there are local events happening.

Some strategies to improve your chances:

  • Arrive a little earlier than peak dinner time, around 6:30–7:00 PM, to grab a table before the main dinner rush.
  • If Alcove is full, be prepared to wait or ask to sit at the bar, as many restaurants can accommodate walk-ins there more quickly.
  • Check if they have a call-ahead or waitlist option. Sometimes calling right before arrival helps secure a spot.

Your second choice, Home, takes reservations, which offers more certainty. If having a guaranteed table is important, making a reservation there is recommended, especially at peak dinner hours.

Other considerations:

  • Monday nights are usually less busy than Sunday nights, so Alcove may have better availability then.
  • If flexibility is possible, arriving slightly earlier or later than 7:30–8:00 PM increases your likelihood of getting a table without a reservation.
  • Consider alternative nearby restaurants that take reservations, just in case Alcove is full, to avoid a long wait.

Overall, Alcove is doable without a reservation on a Sunday or Monday if you are flexible with timing and possibly willing to sit at the bar or wait briefly. Home provides more reliability with reservations.
