How to do grocery pick up from HK airport to Disneyland
Hello everyone,
My family and I will arrive in HK early evening and our first stop is the Disneyland Hotel. Our son has food allergies and can't easily dine out. Since there aren't a lot of grocery options near Disneyland, I was hoping to pick up an online grocery order on the way from the airport. I know there is a Marks & Spencer right by the airport, but I can't put in an online order since I don't have a HK or Chinese phone number to complete registration. Are there any other nearby grocery stores that do online order/pick up? I guess our other option is to ask our taxi driver to wait for us while we grocery shop? Thank you for any ideas you may have.
Hello, traveling from Hong Kong Airport to Disneyland and arranging groceries for a child with food allergies requires a bit of planning, but there are several practical options. Unfortunately, many online grocery services in Hong Kong require a local phone number for registration, which can be a limitation for visitors. However, there are workarounds.
Here are some options for grocery pick-up or shopping en route to Disneyland:
- Airport grocery stores: Hong Kong International Airport has Marks & Spencer, 7-Eleven, and some small supermarkets within the terminal. While M&S cannot take an online order without a local number, you can shop in-person quickly after arrival. 7-Eleven and airport convenience stores often stock basic food items suitable for children with allergies.
- Tsing Yi or Tung Chung supermarkets: If you take the route via taxi or bus to Disneyland, you can stop at a nearby large supermarket such as Wellcome, ParknShop, or CitySuper in Tung Chung or Tsing Yi. These stores have a wide variety of groceries, including allergy-friendly products. You can shop in-person rather than ordering online.
- Delivery services with hotel pick-up: Some services like HKTVmall or PARKnSHOP online delivery offer “collect at store” options, but you may need a local phone number. One workaround is to ask the Disneyland Hotel concierge if they can assist with receiving an online grocery order in advance, which some hotels do for international guests.
Other practical tips:
- Ask your taxi driver to wait while you make a quick grocery stop at a nearby supermarket; Tung Chung has several options and is just a short detour from the airport to Disneyland. Expect 15–30 minutes for shopping depending on your list.
- Consider buying packaged, allergy-safe snacks at the airport convenience stores as a backup in case you cannot arrange pre-ordered groceries.
- Check the Disneyland Hotel concierge services in advance. They are often very helpful in arranging grocery pickups or storing food brought by guests.
In summary, while online order pick-up without a local phone number is limited, stopping at a nearby supermarket in Tung Chung or buying at airport stores are feasible options. Asking your taxi driver to wait or coordinating with the hotel concierge can make this process smoother and ensure your son has safe food upon arrival.
