Transport from Sheung Wan to Kai Tak Cruise Terminal

Hi we are staying at the Ibis Hotel in the Sheung Wan neighbourhood for 4 nights. We will be departing Hong Kong on a cruise from Kai Tak terminal and looking for transport options. Does the ferry run from our location to the cruise terminal area?

The Kai Tak Cruise Terminal is located in Kowloon East and does not have a direct ferry service from Sheung Wan or the central Hong Kong Island area. Passengers staying in Sheung Wan will need to use land transportation to reach the cruise terminal.

Transport options from Sheung Wan to Kai Tak Cruise Terminal:

  • Taxi / Private car: The most convenient option, especially with luggage. The ride takes about 25–40 minutes depending on traffic and costs approximately HKD 200–250.
  • Airport Shuttle / Coach: Some cruise lines provide pre-arranged shuttle buses from key hotels in Hong Kong Island and Kowloon to Kai Tak Cruise Terminal. Check with your cruise operator if this is available.
  • Public transport: You can take the MTR (Mass Transit Railway) combined with a bus or taxi:
    • Take the Island Line from Sheung Wan to Tsim Sha Tsui (approx. 15 minutes).
    • Transfer to a taxi from Tsim Sha Tsui to Kai Tak Cruise Terminal (approx. 15–20 minutes), or
    • Take the bus from Tsim Sha Tsui to Kai Tak (bus routes vary; journey time ~30–40 minutes). Be aware buses may have luggage restrictions.
  • Hotel Concierge Assistance: Many hotels, including Ibis Sheung Wan, can arrange private transfers or taxis to the cruise terminal, which is highly recommended if you have large suitcases or are traveling with family.

Overall, there is no direct ferry from Sheung Wan to Kai Tak Cruise Terminal, and taking a taxi, hotel-arranged transfer, or cruise shuttle is the simplest and most reliable way to reach the terminal.
