California adventure park reservation slots
Hi all
We are travelling to Disney California adventure park on Tuesday - we just have one day in our schedule
I was checking wait times today for a rough guide and a lot of rides were saying closed - are they closed for maintenance?
Also are you able to book slots for the ride times in advance as some rides were saying no reservation slots left?
With such limited time we want to make sure we can get on a good few rides
Visiting Disney California Adventure Park for just one day means careful planning is key, especially if some rides are showing as closed or “no reservation slots left.” Here’s a detailed overview to help you maximize your day.
First, rides may show as closed for a few reasons:
- Scheduled maintenance: Parks regularly close rides for repairs or refurbishment, sometimes for several days or weeks.
- Temporary downtime: Popular rides may have technical issues that cause temporary closures throughout the day.
- Weather or operational adjustments: Some outdoor attractions may close temporarily due to weather conditions or safety protocols.
Regarding ride reservation slots:
- Disney California Adventure uses the Genie+ system, which allows you to reserve access to certain attractions in advance (previously called FastPass).
- Reservations can be booked on the day of your visit through the Disneyland app. Some rides have limited availability, so “no slots left” typically means all Genie+ or individual Lightning Lane slots for that day have been claimed.
- You cannot reserve slots days in advance; all reservations are made on the day of the visit, starting at park opening (or 7am for Genie+ if you purchased in advance).
Tips to make the most of your one-day visit:
- Arrive at park opening to maximize ride time before crowds build.
- Check the app frequently throughout the day for updates on ride availability, wait times, and any newly opened reservation slots.
- Prioritize must-do attractions early and use Genie+ strategically for popular rides.
- Consider single rider lines if your group is okay with splitting up, as this can save significant wait time.
Even with one day, careful planning using the Disneyland app, monitoring ride closures, and smart use of Genie+ or Lightning Lane can help you enjoy a good number of key rides.
