Night bus from the center to PVG
Hi,
I haven't been able to find any details about taking the bus from the city center to the airport instead of the taxi after 11 PM since the subway is closed. Can anyone tell me where to get there from in the Bund area?
Thanks
In Shanghai, the city center to Pudong Airport (PVG) night bus service is limited, and most airport buses stop running around 10:00–11:00 PM, which can make traveling late at night a bit challenging. After the subway closes, your main options are taxis, ride-hailing apps like DiDi, or private airport shuttles.
Airport Bus Information:
- Some of the daytime airport buses depart from central locations such as People's Square, the Bund area, and Shanghai Railway Station, but the last buses typically depart around 10:30–11:00 PM.
- From the Bund specifically, there is no dedicated night bus after subway hours. You may need to walk or take a short taxi/ride-hailing ride to the nearest operational airport bus stop if your flight is late.
Alternative Options Late at Night:
- Taxi: Taking a taxi from the Bund to PVG is straightforward. Expect travel time around 45–60 minutes depending on traffic. Fares are approximately CNY 150–200, plus highway tolls.
- Ride-hailing (DiDi): Convenient and reliable late at night. You can book a car via the app in English, and costs are similar to taxis.
- Private Airport Shuttle: Some hotels and private companies offer shuttle services that run late. This can be arranged in advance if you want guaranteed transport.
Summary:
After 11 PM, you should plan on taking a taxi or DiDi from the Bund to PVG. The regular airport buses from the city center will not be available at that hour. Always allow extra time for traffic, especially if you are catching a late-night flight.
