Best casinos for a non-gambler

We will be visiting Hong Kong and have allocated a day to visit Macau and see the historical area and to visit some casinos.

What casinos would you recommend we visit? We didn't gamble when we visited Las Vegas but enjoyed the various hotel themes.

Thanks in advance.

Even if you’re not interested in gambling, Macau’s casinos offer a spectacular visual and entertainment experience similar to Las Vegas, with grand hotel designs, shows, and luxury shopping. Visiting a few iconic casinos will let you enjoy the architecture and atmosphere without needing to place a bet.

Here are some recommended casinos and resorts in Macau for non-gamblers:

  • The Venetian Macao: Famous for its Venetian-themed architecture, indoor canals with gondola rides, and large shopping areas. Perfect for walking around, taking photos, and enjoying the atmosphere.
  • City of Dreams: Modern luxury resort with an impressive water show called “The House of Dancing Water,” as well as restaurants, shopping, and art installations.
  • Grand Lisboa: Iconic for its striking exterior design and colorful interior. Even if you don’t gamble, you can admire the unique architecture and luxury shops.
  • MGM Cotai: Sleek contemporary design with interesting art installations and dining options. Great for exploring the modern side of Macau.
  • Wynn Macau: Known for its elegant décor, floral displays, and high-end shops. It’s a beautiful space to walk through and enjoy the ambience.

For a day visit, it’s also worth exploring the historic center of Macau, which is UNESCO-listed, including:

  • Ruins of St. Paul’s
  • Senado Square
  • St. Dominic’s Church

You can combine a walk through the historical area with stops at a few casinos to experience the contrast between old and new Macau. Since you are only spending a day, prioritize The Venetian for its iconic canals and City of Dreams for entertainment and shows. Walking around the casinos is entirely free, and you can enjoy all the visual splendor without gambling.
