Early July marked my second visit to Fukuoka during the peak of summer 🌞🔥⛩️. With only 4 days to spend, I focused on indulging in the local cuisine. However, I did dedicate one day to visiting Itoshima, which is about a 1.5-hour drive away.
📍Nikuya Nikuichi Hakata Branch
🚗 Address: 1F M Building, 1-2-18 Hakataekiminami, Hakata-ku, Fukuoka City, Fukuoka Prefecture
This popular yakiniku restaurant is highly rated for its value for money. We ordered a set menu, which was incredibly satisfying. Every dish was delicious, especially their signature 7-meat platter, which I highly recommend. Be sure to make a reservation in advance to avoid long waits.
📍Ikkousha Hakata Main Store
🚗 Address: 3-23-12 Hakataekimae, Hakata-ku, Fukuoka City, Fukuoka Prefecture, 812-0011
Having already tried Shinshin Ramen, I decided to try this second ramen spot. The broth was rich yet not greasy, making it a lighter option that even women might find appealing. The mentaiko rice served alongside the ramen was a delightful surprise, with generous portions of mentaiko and just the right amount of saltiness. Definitely worth a try!
📍634
🚗 Address: 1F Prosperita Tenjin II, 5-3-23 Watanabe-dori, Chuo-ku, Fukuoka City, Fukuoka Prefecture
Another popular yakitori spot, famously visited by SVT's Mingyu. Reservations are recommended for this lively izakaya. The staff speaks some English and are eager to explain the menu. Despite the language barrier, the food quality was excellent. The shrimp-wrapped meat skewers were a standout and a must-order!
📍Shokudo Hikari
Yanagibashi Rengo Market
A well-known spot among Fukuoka tourists. On my first visit, I missed out on their tuna rice bowl, but I finally got to try it this time. The portion size was generous and worth every penny!
📍TANYA Hakata PARCO Fukuoka
The beef tongue set meal here is reasonably priced, with tender and flavorful meat. The set includes a delicious soup and yam paste. Initially, I was skeptical about mixing yam paste with rice, but it turned out to be surprisingly tasty and helped balance the richness of the meal.
📍Robata no Itookashi
Address: 2-3-13 Ropponmatsu, Chuo-ku, Fukuoka City, Fukuoka Prefecture
A popular local breakfast spot offering only two menu options: salmon set meal and eel set meal. The dishes are prepared tableside, so be mindful of the potential charcoal smell on your clothes. The eel was thick and flavorful, paired with soft rice and miso soup for a classic Japanese breakfast experience. Definitely worth trying.
