Ready to hit up Osaka? 🏮🍜 I managed to squeeze the best vibes out of a weekend exploring Dotonbori’s neon madness, soaring above the city on the Ebisu Tower Ferris Wheel, and bedding down at the budget-friendly Hotel Wing International Premium Osaka-Shinsekai.
Must-See Places in Osaka:
1. Dotonbori (1 Chome Dotonbori, Chuo Ward) — Open 24/7, this riverside hotspot is the heart of Osaka nightlife, street food, and those wild Glico neon signs. Grab takoyaki from a local stand and soak in the energy!
2. Ebisu Tower Ferris Wheel (7-13 Souemoncho, Chuo Ward) — Open Mon/Wed-Sun 11:00-22:00, Tues from 13:00. Ride this unique Ferris wheel for killer city views — sunset is a win!
3. Hotel Wing International Premium Osaka-Shinsekai (3-6-16, Ebisuhigashi) — A super affordable stay, close to both top sights and transport. Rooms are simple and functional, perfect for travelers on a budget. FYI: The immediate area can be a bit noisy and feel less safe at night, but I felt fine sticking to main streets.
Travel Tip: 🗾 Getting around Osaka (and over to Kyoto!) is a breeze with the bullet train — I love how fast and reliable it is. For local sightseeing, the metro is easy, but pay attention to closing hours if you’re staying out late!
Food Rec: Dotonbori is street food heaven! Don’t leave without trying kushikatsu (deep-fried skewers) and local ramen.
Handy Hints: No visas for short tourist stays if you’re from most Western countries. ATM access is good, but cash is still king. Osaka is fun all year — watch out for summer humidity!
