HK airport to hotel in Causeway Bay

It’s been a while since I’ve been to HK (pre covid). I used to take the AirPort Express to HK then the hotels bus to my hotel in Cayseway Bay. Is this mode of transfer still available . If not I’d be grateful for advice on most efficient method for a single senior traveler. Cheers

Yes, the Airport Express is still the most efficient and comfortable way to travel from Hong Kong International Airport (HKG) to the city, especially for a senior traveler with luggage. The service is fast, reliable, and avoids the traffic that taxis might encounter. However, there have been some changes since pre-COVID, so it’s good to know the current options.

Here’s a detailed overview of how you can get from the airport to Causeway Bay:

  • Airport Express to Hong Kong Station + Taxi/Bus: Take the Airport Express from HKG to Hong Kong Station (about 24 minutes). From there, you can take a taxi to Causeway Bay, which is about 10–15 minutes depending on traffic. This is convenient if you have luggage and prefer minimal transfers.
  • Airport Express + MTR: From Hong Kong Station, transfer to the MTR (Island Line) at Central Station to reach Causeway Bay Station. This takes about 10–15 minutes. The MTR is very senior-friendly with elevators and escalators at most stations.
  • Direct Airport Bus: Some hotel shuttle or public bus services connect the airport directly to the Causeway Bay area. This can be slightly cheaper than the Airport Express plus taxi, but travel time can be longer (around 45–60 minutes) depending on traffic.
  • Taxi from Airport: A direct taxi from HKG to Causeway Bay takes about 35–45 minutes, depending on traffic. This is the simplest but more expensive option (approx. HKD 300–400).

Notes for senior travelers:

  • The Airport Express remains the smoothest and most comfortable option, particularly for those carrying luggage or preferring fewer steps and transfers.
  • Hotel shuttle services may be available if you book in advance, but not all hotels in Causeway Bay provide them anymore. It’s best to check directly with your hotel.
  • If mobility is an issue, avoid public buses during peak hours as they can be crowded and require standing.

In summary, the combination of Airport Express plus taxi or MTR is still recommended for efficiency, comfort, and convenience. Direct taxi is also a viable option if you want a completely seamless journey.
