Theme park tickets

Im informed that my best course of action is to buy my tickets in wallmart, ie a day pass ticket purchased the day before. Is this the cheapest route as the 14 day passes are very expensive, especially if we plan 4 parks in our ten day stay. Almost double our holiday cost.

If this is the case do all wallmarts sell the tickets and hoe much is a day pass to universal or disney.

All advice greatly appreciated.

Buying theme park tickets for Disney World and Universal Studios in Orlando requires some planning, especially if you are aiming to manage costs over a 10-day stay with multiple parks. While Walmart does sell theme park tickets, it’s not always the cheapest or most flexible option.

Here’s a detailed breakdown:

1. Walmart tickets:

  • Walmart sells tickets for Disney World and Universal Studios, usually through their MoneyCenter or online platforms.
  • Not all Walmart stores may carry tickets in-store, so checking online first or calling ahead is recommended.
  • Walmart tickets are generally the same price as gate prices, but they can occasionally include small discounts or bundled offers.
  • Day passes can be purchased one day in advance, but availability may vary during peak seasons. Purchasing earlier can sometimes save you from last-minute price hikes or sold-out dates.

2. Day passes versus multi-day passes:

  • Single-day tickets for Disney World parks in 2025 generally range from around $130 to $190 per adult, depending on the park and date.
  • Universal Studios one-day tickets are roughly $120–$160 per adult, depending on the park (Universal Studios or Islands of Adventure) and date.
  • Multi-day passes like 14-day passes provide flexibility but cost nearly double per day if you’re only visiting 4 parks in 10 days.
  • Buying day-by-day tickets can be cheaper, but you may lose benefits like park hopping or bundled perks included in multi-day passes.

3. Alternatives to Walmart:

  • Authorized resellers like Undercover Tourist, AAA, or directly from Disney/Universal websites sometimes offer slightly discounted tickets.
  • Buying tickets online in advance ensures you secure the exact park and date, which is especially important for Disney World where park reservations are required in addition to tickets.
  • Some hotels offer ticket packages or concierge services with minor savings or free perks like early park entry.

4. Recommendations:

  • Check official park websites for exact day pass pricing and availability before assuming Walmart is cheapest.
  • If you plan to visit 4 parks over 10 days, buying day-by-day can be cost-effective, but monitor ticket prices carefully and plan park reservations for Disney World.
  • Consider flexibility, convenience, and availability alongside pure price savings.

In summary, Walmart tickets can be a reasonable option for day passes, but they are not automatically the cheapest or most convenient. Comparing prices online and securing your park reservations early will help maximize both savings and enjoyment.
