Visa advice

Hi all

I am looking to book flights to china in the next few months I will also book all our hotels probably through booking on a buy now pay later. When applying for the visa will proof of flights and rooms be enough or do I need all the transfers (trains/internal flights booked) too?

When applying for a Chinese visa, the authorities mainly require evidence that you have a clear travel plan, including entry and exit from China, and proof of accommodation. Internal transfers, such as domestic flights or trains, are generally not required for the visa application itself.

Here is what you typically need to provide:

  • Flights: A confirmed round-trip or onward flight ticket showing your entry and exit dates.
  • Accommodation: Confirmed hotel bookings covering the period of your stay. If you have multiple cities planned, you may provide bookings for each city, though some applicants only show the first and last night.
  • Visa application form and photo: Completed application form and a passport-sized photo as per requirements.
  • Passport: Valid for at least six months beyond your intended departure date with at least one blank visa page.

Optional supporting documents can include an itinerary of your intended travel within China, but this is not mandatory. Internal flights or train tickets are not usually required unless specifically requested by the consulate. If you are using “buy now, pay later” bookings, ensure you have a confirmation that is officially recognized by the hotel, as a temporary or unconfirmed booking may not be accepted.

In summary, proof of flights in and out of China and confirmed hotel reservations is sufficient for most visa applications. Internal transfers are optional and primarily for your own convenience or if the consulate requests additional details.
