Dodger Game
We are going to be flying into LA for the night. Our flight gets in at 6:50pm. My husband and son want to run to the Dodgers game despite they will be late. If they go straight from the plane to an uber. What time could they expect to get the game? As for my daughter and I where would the best place to stay at that night that they could easily join us after the game. We have a 7:30am flight out of LGB the next morning.
With a 6:50 PM arrival at LAX, your husband and son will be cutting it quite close to catch a Dodgers game at Dodger Stadium, especially considering immigration, baggage claim (if any), and travel time.
Estimated timing:
- International or domestic flight? If it’s domestic, assume around 30–45 minutes to exit the airport. International could take 1–2 hours depending on immigration and baggage.
- Uber or taxi to Dodger Stadium from LAX is approximately 25–35 miles (depending on traffic) and could take 45–75 minutes in evening LA traffic, especially on a weekday. Peak traffic near downtown LA can make it longer.
- Dodger games typically start around 7:10 PM or 7:15 PM in the evening. Given the travel, they are likely to arrive at the stadium around the middle of the first inning or later, possibly around 8:00–8:30 PM if everything goes smoothly.
Recommended overnight area for you and your daughter:
Since you have a 7:30 AM flight out of Long Beach Airport (LGB) the next morning, it’s most practical to stay near LGB rather than near the stadium. This avoids early-morning LA traffic and ensures a stress-free start.
- Hotels near LGB: The Hyatt Regency Long Beach, Courtyard by Marriott Long Beach Downtown, and Renaissance Long Beach Hotel are all convenient options with easy airport access and comfortable accommodations.
- Alternatively, staying in Belmont Shore or Shoreline Village area offers more casual, scenic options and a short drive to LGB.
How your husband and son could meet you:
- They could Uber directly from Dodger Stadium to your hotel near LGB after the game. Depending on traffic, this drive is roughly 45–60 minutes.
- Leaving the stadium immediately after the game, they might arrive near 11:00–11:30 PM. Make sure the hotel allows late check-in if needed.
Alternative considerations:
- If they want to see more of the game without missing the first few innings, arriving straight from LAX is doable, but there’s no guarantee they’ll catch the very start.
- Staying closer to downtown LA or Hollywood for the night would make meeting after the game faster but would make your early morning departure to LGB more stressful due to traffic.
Bottom line: For convenience and minimizing stress for the early flight, stay near Long Beach Airport. Your husband and son can enjoy the Dodgers game knowing they’ll be able to meet you at the hotel later, even if they arrive mid-game.
