Tucked away just across the Melaka River in the quieter alleys of Jalan Kampung Jawa, Sin See Tai—literally “New Era” in Hokkien—is an intimate, soul-lifting café that feels quietly revolutionary. It’s a small-batch coffee roaster and café that deliberately keeps things small to stay thoughtful and sincere.

Atmosphere & Setting
Stepping inside, you’re greeted by a warm, rustic minimalist layout. The ground floor houses a sleek coffee counter with a striking yellow La Marzocco espresso machine, surrounded by potted greenery and soft lighting. A steep staircase leads you upstairs to a snug 12–16-seater space—think cozy living room with vintage furniture, leafy corner nooks, natural light, and just enough elbow room to relax.

What I Tasted
• Matcha Croissant: A buttery, flaky croissant with rich matcha filling—flavorful and beautifully crisp.
• Waffle & Popsicle: One of their standout creations—airy, sweet waffles paired with a fruity, creamy popsicle (roselle, mango, passionfruit), melting into a delightful crunch.
• Home-Baked Granola & Avocado Bacon Toast: The granola bursts with texture and spice, while the avocado toast layers creamy, crunchy, and savory on house-baked sourdough.
• Coffee & Drinks: Expect carefully roasted house beans served as espresso, cold brew latte (balanced, smooth), or filter. Plus options like house-made kombucha and cold-pressed juices.
• Extra Favorites: Desserts like hojicha cinnamon buns with blueberries, croffles, and other pastry innovations draw locals seeking inventive treats.
⸻
Practical Info
• Hours: Opens around 10:00 AM–6:00 PM, Wed through Mon; closed Tuesdays.
• Location: Quiet Jalan Kampung Jawa alley—near Jonker Street but tucked away enough for peaceful comfort.
• Seating & Flow: Limited seating upstairs in a cozy layout. Be prepared for brief waits and take care on the narrow stairway.
⸻
Why It Stands Out
• Highly regarded internationally: Ranked #73 in the world’s best coffee shops and #9 in Asia, yet it stays quietly humble.
• Ingredient-led creativity: From granola and kombucha to popsicles on waffles, their menu reflects craft and innovation.
• Nostalgic warmth with modern precision: A creative space filled with heritage, personal touches, and coffee care.
• Local love, global praise: Lauded by both international café guides and everyday patrons for its cozy charm and quality offerings.
⸻
Sin See Tai is a quiet powerhouse of Melaka’s café scene—minimal in footprint, maximal in heart and flavour. From matcha croissants to popsicles-on-waffles, every sip and bite reveals care, creativity, and conversation in an intentionally small space.
