Hotel rec- 2 night stay

Hello

My husband and I are stopping off in Hong Kong on the way back from the UK. We are looking at staying somewhere central to make the most of our time- (3 full days). We love an amazing breakfast buffet and a great pool. Budget is around $850 NZD for 2 nights.

A few options we were looking at:

- Royal Plaza Hotel

- Cordis Hong Kong

- New World Millennium Hong Kong

- Kerry Hotel (love this option, but it it not central enough?)

Any thoughts on the above + other reccomendations?

Thanks heaps,

Hannah

Hi Hannah,

For a short 2-night stay in Hong Kong with your priorities being a central location, a great breakfast buffet, and a nice pool, here’s a breakdown of your options and some recommendations:

  • Royal Plaza Hotel: Located in Mong Kok, very close to MTR and shopping areas. The breakfast is good, the pool is decent but not particularly large. Very convenient for getting around Kowloon, and budget-friendly.
  • Cordis Hong Kong: Also in Mong Kok, slightly more modern and upscale than Royal Plaza. Excellent breakfast buffet, rooftop pool with nice city views. Very convenient for transport and shopping.
  • New World Millennium Hong Kong: Near Tsim Sha Tsui, which is very central for sightseeing. The pool is good, and breakfast buffet is strong. Walking distance to many attractions, shops, and the Star Ferry.
  • Kerry Hotel: Located in Hung Hom on the Kowloon side by the harbour. The hotel is very luxurious, with one of the best pools in Hong Kong and excellent breakfast. However, it is a bit farther from central shopping and nightlife areas. If you prefer a more relaxed, scenic stay by the water, it’s excellent; if you want to be in the thick of the action, it’s slightly less convenient.

Other suggestions to consider:

  • The Langham, Hong Kong: Tsim Sha Tsui, luxurious, beautiful breakfast, very central, nice pool.
  • InterContinental Hong Kong: Iconic, stunning harbour views, excellent breakfast and pool. Excellent location for a short city stay, though often at the higher end of your budget.
  • JW Marriott Hong Kong: Central, luxurious, great amenities, including a good pool and breakfast.

Summary advice:

  • If central location and quick access to sightseeing/shopping is your top priority: Cordis or New World Millennium are ideal.
  • If you want a luxurious, scenic, and relaxing stay by the water: Kerry Hotel is excellent.
  • For a balance of convenience, luxury, and amazing breakfast, Cordis might be your best pick for a 2-night stay.

Hope this helps you make the most of your 3 full days in Hong Kong!
